6:50pm - So here's the state of play at the halfway point of six LV= County Championship matches.
Nottinghamshire and Middlesex are in the driving seat against Yorkshire and Sussex respectively; Northamptonshire appear on the brink of victory against Worcestershire, while Surrey and Gloucestershire have wickets in hand as they respond to sizeable first-innings totals from Warwickshire and Glamorgan. Kent are four down and still have work to do to avoid the follow-on against Hampshire.
Somerset, and particularly Nick Compton, enjoyed a productive opening day against Durham.

Division One
Surrey are 49 without loss in response to Warwickshire's first-innings 631 for nine declared at Guildford.
Yorkshire are 29 for three in response to Nottinghamshire's first-innings 443 at Scarborough.
Sussex are 147 for seven in response to Middlesex's first-innings 499 for eight declared at Lord's.
Somerset, having won the toss, are 336 for five versus Durham at Taunton.
Division Two
Gloucestershire are 179 for one in response to Glamorgan’s first-innings 448 at Bristol.
Kent are 149 for four without loss in response to Hampshire’s first-innings 455 at the Ageas Bowl.
Worcestershire are 97 for six in their second innings against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road and trail by 21.
6:32pm - Surrey are 49 without loss at stumps on day two at Guildford, a small dent in Warwickshire's mammoth 631 for nine. Sussex and Worcestershire's batsmen will no doubt look at that scorecard with envy as their torrid evenings close. We'll have a round-up of today's scores very shortly
6:28pm - Sussex will dearly hope they're the next team back to the safety of the pavilion, but Ed Joyce's side are mounting a recovery of sorts at Lord's. Luke Wright and Will Beer have put on 35 for the eighth wicket, with the England man very much the senior partner. Displaying his natural attacking instincts, Wright has five boundaries to his name among 37 not out.
6:22pm - It's stumps in Southampton, where Kent have suffered no further damage, but Yorkshire were not so lucky at Scarborough. Skipper Andrew Gale was forced to the middle to join Phil Jaques after Steven Patterson became another nightwatchman unable to complete his job. The hosts are 29 for three, with Nottinghamshire well on top on the second evening having amassed 443 in their first innings.
6:13pm - Kent's struggles continue at the Ageas Bowl. Danny Briggs has accounted for nightwatchman Adam Riley without scoring. Brendan Nash is unbeaten on 26 and now has Ben Harmison for company. The score is 149 for four, 306 behind Hampshire on first innings.
6:06pm - Having added a further run to the tweet below, Klinger will go to bed this evening dreaming of a 14th first-class century. Stumps have been drawn at Bristol with Gloucestershire 179 for one in response to Glamorgan's 448 first time around. Housego is unbeaten on 46, with six boundaries to his name.
They're also done for the day at Taunton, where it has been a one to remember for Test opener Compton. The Somerset man carried his bat throughout the opening day to 139 not out and the hosts are 336 for five after electing to bat against Durham.

5:55pm - It is certainly becoming a dismal evening for Worcestershire's batsman. Michael Johnson is out lbw, becoming the third scalp for his countryman Copeland. With the visitors still 47 behind, Northants must be starting to eye an innings victory this evening.
Kent have now lost three wickets for 33 runs after Griffiths cleaned up Daniel Bell-Drummond for 13.
5:46pm - An innings win is certainly not out of the question for Northants. Aneesh Kapil has been trapped in front by Willey, which means Worcestershire are 63 for five and still 55 in arrears.
Yorkshire have now lost both openers, the recalled Alex Lees going lbw to Luke Fletcher for two.

5:37pm - There has been a flurry of wickets in the top-flight.
Sussex are now six down, Rayner having accepted a return catch off Ben Brown.
Mark Wood has brought an end to Barrow's knock at Taunton.
And at Scarborough, there has been an early setback for Yorkshire - Adam Lyth edging Harry Gurney to second slip with the score on nine.
In Division Two, Worcestershire are in big bother at 58 for four. The tireless Trent Copeland has won an lbw verdict against Alexei Kervezee to grab his second scalp.

5:20pm - Things go from bad to worse for Sussex as Matt Prior departs to former team-mate Ollie Rayner for 10. England's Test wicketkeeper is not happy about being given out caught at silly point.
5:15pm - Make that two much-needed breakthroughs for Hampshire! Rob Key falls five balls after his partner, caught in the slips off David Griffiths three short of a fifty.
Klinger and Dan Housego have shared a patient half-century alliance for Gloucestershire, who are 129 for one at Bristol.
Surrey have made a solid start in response to Warwickshire's mammoth total, ending the sixth over on 13 without loss.
Alex Barrow takes Scott Borthwick for three fours in an over to earn a third batting point for Somerset. Compton has moved on to 123.
5:10pm - Nottinghamshire lose Shahzad and Harry Gurney in successive overs to be bowled out for 443.
At the Ageas Bowl, Hampshire have claimed a much-needed breakthrough, Sean Ervine pinning Northeast lbw for 59.
Sussex are in trouble at Lord's. James Harris has accounted for Michael Yardy to leave the south coast side 88 for four in reply to 499 for eight declared.
5:02pm - Having progressed slowly for much of their first dig, Notts are really putting their foot down now. Luke Fletcher is swinging away merrily alongside Ajmal Shahzad.
David Willey's removal of Matt Pardoe leaves Worcestershire 45 for two. They need 73 more to avoid an innings defeat at Wantage Road.
Kent's opening stand has surpassed 100.
4:48pm - Adil Rashid has brought an end to Franks' innings on 70, while Durham spinner Ryan Buckley has pinned James Hildreth leg-before for 33 at Taunton.
4:45pm - As Paul Franks tears into Richard Pyrah at Scarborough, Roy picks up a third scalp when having Tom Milnes caught behind for a breezy 15. That leaves Warwickshire 631 for nine and prompts a declaration.

Gloucestershire captain Michael Klinger has moved past 50, while there is also a centurion at the Ageas Bowl in the form of Kent opener Sam Northeast.
4:27pm - There will be no century for young Javid. He is caught behind off the occasional bowling of Jason Roy for 85. Warwickshire are 609 for seven and are batting on.
4:17pm - Compton brings up his 20th first-class hundred with a four off Mark Wood. That's a timely boost for the England Test opener.
Keith Barker and Ateeq Javid have now shared 200 at Guildford; the latter is 19 shy of three figures and you would imagine a declaration would follow if he reaches the landmark.
4:10pm - Perhaps a little unexpectedly, Will Smith strikes in his first over for Durham, bowling Dean Elgar for 33 to break a stand of 84 for Somerset’s third wicket. Nick Compton has 96...
It is now tea-time at Lord's and Wantage Road.
4pm - Crook has bowled Daryl Mitchell to hand Northants an early breakthrough in Worcestershire’s second innings, while Middlesex’s Toby Roland-Jones has accounted for Sussex opener Luke Wells. Those are the only two matches still in progress with tea being taken elsewhere, so here’s a round-up of how things stand.
Division One
Warwickshire are 587 for six against Surrey at Guildford.
Nottinghamshire are 368 for seven against Yorkshire at Scarborough.
Sussex are 47 for two in response to Middlesex first innings 499 for eight declared at Lord's.

3:40pm - Sweet relief for Rashid, who perhaps deserves this touch of fortune as Mullaney goes without further addition to his score. An attempted slog-sweep looped up off the batsman's boot to be pouched by Alex Lees at short-leg. Nottinghamshire are 365 for seven.
3:37pm - Glamorgan have the breakthrough as Gloucestershire's opening stand of 79 is brought to an end by Michael Hogan trapping Roderick lbw for 41.
3:34pm - After watching Adam Lyth grass that chance moments ago, poor old Rashid has been clumped into the Scarborough stands by Mullaney once more. He's raced to 79 from 94 balls, with 11 other boundaries to stand alongside his two maximums.
3:30pm - Bowlers across the country will be grateful when tea arrives inside the next half hour as batsmen continue to make hay in the sunshine. Compton would like to reach the interval with a century to his name - the England man is on 90, with Somerset 205 for two on day one versus Durham.

3:24pm - Keith Barker has his third first-class century as Surrey's bowlers continue to toil under Warwickshire's relentless assault at Guildford. The all-rounder reached three figures from 128 balls with 14 fours and a six. The score is 567 for six and captain Jim Troughton must now be pondering the declaration.

3:18pm - Middlesex struck in the fifth over of Sussex's response. Tim Murtagh was the bowler as Sam Robson held on to dismiss Chris Nash for 13. The visitors as 22 for one.
3:11pm - Steven Mullaney and Paul Franks have handed a torrid time to Yorkshire's attack over the past 45 minutes at Scarborough. In the 10 overs since Ryan Sidebottom removed Chris Read they have added 61 for the seventh wicket. Mullaney passed 50 before launching Adil Rashid for six.
2:55pm - Hampshire's innings is curtailed on 455 and Riley's dismissal of David Griffiths means he walks off with career-best figures of 7-150.
At Guildford, Javid is also a half-centurion and the stand with Barker is worth 120, while Chris Russell cleaned up the Northamptonshire tail at Wantage Road to end with 3-59 as the hosts made 314 to lead by 118.
Gloucestershire's response to Glamorgan's 448 at Bristol has started in fine fashion with an unbroken opening partnership of 51 between Michael Klinger and Gareth Roderick.
2:40pm - England opener Nick Compton brought up that welcome half-century in some style, following up a four off Ryan Buckley with a towering maximum next ball. He's now joined by Dean Elgar after Arul Suppiah was bowled by Graham Onions and Somerset are 147 for two.
Elsewhere, Barker beat Javid to his own fifty and has motored on to 63, with Warwickshire 508 for six; Briggs is out for a run-a-ball 25 as Hampshire's innings winds down on 443 for nine an fellow lusty hitter Berg perished for 39 before Middlesex declared on 499 for eight.

2:26pm - Crook will not be raising his bat again at Wantage Road. Chris Russell has bowled the former Lancashire man for 85 and Northamptonshire are 288 for eight, a healthy lead of 92.
2:23pm - Middlesex's Gareth Berg is wasting no time in trying to take the game beyond Sussex's reach at HQ. The South African born all-rounder's 39 not out has come from just 24 balls with six fours. However, he must continue without Ollie Rayner, who was just caught at the wicket off left-armer Chris Liddle.
2:16pm - The catering staff at the Ageas Bowl might want to serve Kent something different at lunch tomorrow because it seems to have done them the world of good! Balcombe goes without scoring and Riley is the successful bowler once more.
2:12pm - Warwickshire continue their serene progress against Surrey, with Ateeq Javid and Keith Barker engaged in a race to 50. The pair's seventh-wicket stand is worth 71 and they have 37 and 34 to their respective names. Middlesex’s John Simpson reached that very landmark only to fall two balls later to Luke Wright. The score at Lord’s is 466 for six.
2:02pm - And it's a double strike for Kent! Facing his first delivery after watching Wheater return to the pavilion, Sean Ervine edges Darren Stevens behind to fall 14 short of a century. David Balcombe and Danny Briggs are the new men in with Hampshire still well placed on 403 for seven.
1:58pm - Adam Riley clearly wasn't ready to stand for all that cheeky reverse sweep business; three balls later, he trapped Adam Wheater lbw for 21. The Kent off-spinner now has a five-wicket haul and one more will bring him a career-best return.

1:53pm - But Moeen Ali has moved to check those ambitions, removing James Middlebrook for 39 by taking a return catch. Middlebrook and Crook put on 96 for the seventh wicket and Northants' lead is 34.
1:43pm - All seven LV=County Championship matches are back under way and Northamptonshire's Steven Crook has brought up his half-century as the hosts seek a potentially decisive first-innings advantage against Worcestershire.
1:05pm - A couple of wickets have fallen in Division One on the stroke of lunch, Middlesex's Dexter dismissed by Will Beer and Notts' James Taylor being trapped lbw by Patterson. In the second tier, Glamorgan lost Mark Wallace for 94 to be dismissed for 448. Here are the interval scores:

12:32pm - How many times have we said this in recent years? Northamptonshire's lower order have stepped up again. The Division One leaders move into the lead against Worcestershire on the back of James Middlebrook and Steven Crook's unbroken half-century stand.
12:16pm - Somerset have lost their first wicket, Graham Onions unsurprisingly the man to strike as Trescothick falls for 36.
11:58am - Hampshire roll on impressively against Kent, Neil McKenzie passing 100 and Sean Ervine 50 in a stand approaching 150.
Nottinghamshire, though, have lost their centurion with Michael Lumb edging Steven Patterson to second slip.
Batting bonus points are coming up too, Hampshire gaining three, Middlesex four and Warwickshire five in the recent minutes - the latter after Dernbach had ousted Rikki Clarke.
11:51am - What a start to his career young Craig Miles is having. Having seen off Goodwin for 108, he has John Glover caught behind and traps Dean Cosker lbw with successive balls in his next over. He now has five wickets and Glamorgan are 343 for eight.
Somerset are going well on 40 without loss against Durham, Marcus Trescothick on 31 and Nick Compton seven.
11:41am - Another batsman falls narrowly short of a double-century, Chris Rogers dismissed by Sussex's Steve Magoffin for 184.
Northamptonshire have lost another wicket, Gareth Andrew getting rid of Rob Keogh for 44.
11:30am - It was Alan Richardson who ousted Hall, picking up his fourth wicket of the innings. Another bowler having a good morning is Dernbach, the paceman having now trapped Tim Ambrose lbw for 84.
And good news for all cricket to celebrate - well, perhaps not those of a Gloucestershire persuasion! Murray Goodwin has struck his first century for Glamorgan; there's still life in the old dog yet.
At Scarborough, meanwhile, Adil Rashid has seen James Taylor dropped at short-leg.
