The changes in the England disability set-up are explained in this video

Phil Hudson has succeeded Bobby Denning as head coach of the England Deaf team amid other changes in the disability set-up.

Denning’s final contribution was helping England Deaf become the first disability team to win every game on a tour when they went to South Africa in the early autumn of last year. He is now concentrating on his commitments with Lancashire.

Hudson said: “I’m close friends with Bobby through my ECB Level Four Award, in which I was on the same cohort as him.

“So I’m in contact with him regularly and I’ve had some conversations about what he believed the squad needs, where he believed it should go. And with my views, I think we can only be a really strong team that can take deaf cricket forwards.”

National Cricket Disability Manager Ian Martin explained the other changes to disability cricket in this country.

“There will be four regional disability talent development centres: one in the north, one in the midlands, one in London and the south-east and one in the south-west. Each centre will look after 20 players across all impairment groups,” he said.

“We’re taking players out of the recreational game, placing them in an England environment and in a lot of cases they’re not ready for the challenges that international cricket presents.

“So the idea behind the regional talent development centres is to identify the talented players across all impairment groups at an early age and provide them with an education that prepares them for international cricket.”
