Sussex have announced their academy intake for the 2014 season, including three girls - the first time that many have been chosen.

Five players have retained their places for another year while there are seven new faces in the set-up, a combined programme between the ECB and Sussex.

Harry Finch was a member of Sussex's academy last season but has since graduated to a first-team contract

Leo Cammish, Josh Hayward, Elliott Hooper, Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Ben Shoare remain. Izzy Collis, Freya Davies, George Garton, Tom Haines, Beck Hemingway, Phil Salt and Paige Scholfield are the new-comers.

Sussex cricket performance manager and academy director Keith Greenfield said: "We are excited by the addition of so many new players to the group and very much looking forward to welcoming them on to the programme.

"We're looking forward to continuing the hard work with those players who will be undertaking their second year. All of them had a role to play in the second XI last season and we hope they will again progress this year.

"This is also the first time that three girls have been selected which goes to show the strength of the women's game in Sussex."

Since being part of the academy last season, Harry Finch and Callum Jackson have signed junior professional contracts and extended their first-team deals this winter.
