Ireland have rested Ed Joyce for some of their Caribbean tour, although the Sussex captain has been picked for the limited-overs internationals with West Indies.
Joyce, who is expected to represent Ireland at the World Twenty20 that starts in mid-March, is set to feature in the two T20 internationals and sole one-day international versus the Windies next month.
The 35-year-old former England batsman has been excused the Caribbean’s domestic 50-over competition that Ireland will compete in before the West Indies games.
Ireland coach Phil Simmons said: "The selectors and Ed agreed that this competition was a good opportunity to rest him with a gruelling schedule ahead in 2014. It's nearly 10 months of full-on cricket and we've got to be careful with Ed's fitness."
Ireland squad: Will Porterfield (capt), Alex Cusack, George Dockrell, Ed Joyce, John Mooney, Tim Murtagh, Andrew McBrine, Kevin O'Brien, Niall O'Brien, Andrew Poynter, Max Sorensen, Paul Stirling, Stuart Thompson, Gary Wilson, Craig Young.
