Yorkshire will tour Sri Lanka as part of their preparations for the 2014 season.

The White Rose will send a 25-man party, including eight players, for a 14-day camp in Colombo on March 12.

They will play a two-day and two T20 games among themselves before taking on local first-class teams the following week.

“It is great news that we have managed to secure this opportunity of preparing for the new season in Sri Lanka,” said director of cricket Martyn Moxon.

“We will be playing and training at some of their best facilities in the country. It will be extremely hot in March and the players will work intensely on their skills both in the nets and in match situations.”

Chief executive Mark Arthur added: “Everyone at Yorkshire is looking forward to visiting Sri Lanka.

“Sri Lankan people are extremely knowledgeable about cricket and have a big passion for the sport, and I know that Yorkshire’s rich history is respected over there.

“It will be an exciting visit for both the players and staff and it will also be good preparation for the team ahead of the 2014 season.”
